Pick up the pace in setting up e-traffic courts: HC to Gujarat Govt
February 10, 2023
Ahmedabad: The Gujarat High Court on Wednesday rebuked the state government for the slow pace in starting the e-traffic courts across the state. The court instructed the chief secretary to convene the meeting for the same immediately.
The court was hearing a plea seeking the establishment of e-courts for immediate dealing with traffic violations and for cancellation of pending e-challans. The chief justice said the traffic problems were not only trivial, but could be solved without difficulty, but the project was delayed due to unwarranted bottlenecks posed by officials.
The HC then asked the chief secretary to convene a meeting forthwith for establishing e-traffic courts across the state which would benefit the litigant public having regard to the fact that such courts have been established in many other states.
According to the petitioner, 17 states of the county are having e-traffic courts. DeshGujarat
