AMC seals 971 properties, collects 7.78 crores Property tax on same day

Ahmedabad: Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) on Wednesday sealed 971 properties whose owners had not paid property tax for many years.

The tax and revenue department sealed the highest number of properties, which was 203, in the East Zone. Meanwhile, the South and Central Zones had 179 and 175 properties sealed, respectively.

As a result of the operation, the governing body collected Rs 7.78 crore in property tax on the same day.

According to sources, the AMC has recently introduced an interest rebate scheme where property owners who have not paid taxes for two decades can settle their tax arrears and receive a 100% waiver on interest charges.
