No promotion to students who get less than 35 marks in class 5th and 8th
February 28, 2023
Gandhinagar: The students getting less than 35 marks in classes 5th and 8th in Gujarat Education Board-affiliated schools will not be promoted to a higher class, as the State government has decided to scrap the no-detention policy from the present academic year. This decision affects 19.80 lakh students across 54,000 schools in the State.
With the implementation of the Right to Education act, no detention policy was made effective in Gujarat and elsewhere from the year 2012. With this, even the worst-performing students were promoted to a higher class.
The State government had in the year 2019 decided to scrap the no-detention policy, implementation of which is starting this year. DeshGujarat
