Breach of disturbed area act in Gorat area of Rander: Councilor to SMC Commissioner

Surat: Migant Muslims are purchasing properties on large scale in Gorat by benefitting from loopholes of the disturbed area act. A BJP councilor of Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) has made a representation in this regard before the Municipal Commissioner. As per this representation made by councilor Keyur Chapatwala, TP scheme 14 (Rander) final pllot 110 is under the disturbed area act. Sai Shakti society’s members here had applied for redevelopment which was approved by SMC’s urban development department. After the representation by Gorat Hanuman Kshetra Samvardhak Samiti, it was known that without the transfer of documents, the entire plot was sold to a developer firm Marvela Group. This company also installed large hoardings for booking of upcoming flats that were later removed by SMC’s anti-encroachment department. The applicant concealed the details and sought development permission through dummy names and thereby breached the rules pertaining to the disturbed area act section 263(B).
