Rajkot gets new Deputy Mayor

Rajkot: The city of Rajkot has got a new Deputy Mayor. The Ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) councilor from ward number 16 Kanchanben Sidhpura has been elected as Deputy Mayor of the city. She replaces the outgoing Deputy Mayor Dr. Darshita Shah who resigned as she is elected to the State Assembly as a legislator. The ruling party has adopted a policy of one person one post. Though Darshita Shah was elected as a legislator in the month of December, she was asked to step down from the post of Deputy Mayor in a current month only, ahead of the budget session of the State assembly. Kanchanben had also been vice president of the city unit of the party. Kanchanben will be in the post of Deputy Mayor for six months. DeshGujarat
