Mobile phones, harmful items, smoking and narcotics substances found in Gujarat jails during searches

Gandhinagar: During a mega search operation carried out across 17 jails of the state; 16 mobiles, 10 electric items, 39 harmful items, 519 items related to smoking, and 3 narcotics items were found in the jails.
The mega surprise checking was conducted by the teams of police in 17 jails including four central jails – Sabarmati jail, Vadodara jail, Rajkot jail, Lojpor jail (Surat); 11 district jails, Palra and Galpadar (Kutch) Jail.
Around 1700 police officers and employees joined the search operation. Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel inspected the entire surprise checking from CM Dashboard. The state home minister Harsh Sanghavi and senior officials of the home department and police department did live monitoring of this surprise drive from the command and control center- Trinetra.
