Elephant has entered into the house; SMC’s fire department gets hoax call

Surat: Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC)’s fire department received a bogus call claiming that an elephant had entered the house in the Nanpura area. The call when checked was found fake. The SMC decided to approach the Police for actions against the caller.

A caller Badshah Ahmed khan, resident of house number 1/2654 opposite the record office in Bhandariwad locality of Nanpura-Machchiwad had dialed the call at 5.30 pm on 1st April apparently to make the fire jawans ‘April fool’. He had complained over a call that an elephant had entered his own house and he was in need of rescue.

Muglisara and Navsari Bazar fire brigade teams rushed to the location in addition to another group of Athwa Police in response to Khan’s call.

According to Navsari bazaar fire station officer Rajesh Deshmukh, when the fire teams reached the location, Badshah Khan told them that the elephant owner had left with his elephant, and the issue was over. The fire and police jawans doubted that Khan was faking it. They checked the CCTV cameras but they were off for the last few months. When checked with neighbors, the jawans confirmed that Khan was indeed faking it and there was no elephant seen there by anyone.

Chief Fire officer Basant Parik said that making fun with emergency service can’t be allowed and the person in question will face police action.
