SMC to organize Surat Saree Walkathon on April 9

Surat: Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) and Surat Smart City Development Ltd. are organising the Surat Saree Walkathon on April 9, 2023.

A meeting was held with various institutes of the city in the presence of Surat Municipal Commissioner Shalini Agarwal at the Pal Performing Arts Centre and attended by representatives from CREDAI, the Chamber of Commerce, the Indian Medical Association, the Indian Institute of Architects, the Diamond and Textile Association, and various sports associations.

The commissioner appealed to females of all ages to participate in the saree walkathon, which will take place at 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 9th, at the Police Parade Ground. She highlighted that the saree is a special identity of Indian women, and females from various states will participate in the saree walkathon in traditional sarees. The SMC commissioner also appealed to all the institutes of the city to join the Saree Walkathon.

Over 10,000 females have already registered for the walkathon on the SMC website. In addition, a handloom exhibition will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Umra Party Plot, along with the walkathon.
