April 08, 2023
Vadodara: The Crime Branch has requested WhatsApp data from the company headquarters in the United States to assist the investigation of the twin sisters who have been missing for the last 50 days. It has come to light that both sisters were using WhatsApp over WiFi every time they opened their mobile phones. As this information can only be obtained from California based company, the police have sent a written request to the state for the data.
The twin sisters, Shital and Sarika, both 23 years old, were studying in college and residing in the Harni area of Vadodara. They have been missing for the last 50 days. Their father, Chimanbhai Vankar, who retired from a government job, lives with his two sons.
On 17th February 2023, Sarika and Shital went to college in the morning as usual but did not return home at their usual time of 4.30 pm. When their father tried to contact them, their phone was switched off, which raised his concerns. He initially went to the Harni police station to report their disappearance but later filed a complaint with the Sayajigunj police station along with his daughters’ photos.

One of the sisters, Sarika, is in the first year of MA at The MS University of Baroda, while the other, Shital, is in the third year of BA at SNDT College. Their father Chimabhai had appealed to the Vadodara police commissioner, following which the police commissioner handed over the investigation to the crime branch. Chimanbhai has also named one Kishan Solanki from Central Gujarat as a suspect. The crime branch has been investigating the case for last 15 days. Chimanbhai has also made written appeals to Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel, State Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi, and MLA Manishaben Vakil to find his daughters. DeshGujarat
