Rush for property registration ahead of old Jantri deadline
April 10, 2023
Gandhinagar: The rush to purchase e-stamps in Gujarat continues as the April 15 deadline for Jantri rate revision approaches.
Ahmedabad has seen a surge in demand for e-stamps over the past few days, with an expected registration of documents worth approximately Rs 3,000 crore in the city. Similarly, in Surat, property worth Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,000 crore is expected to be documented in the coming days.
The government has allowed registration fees to be paid up to four months after April 15 if the sale deed is made on stamp paper before the deadline, but the high demand for e-stamps has made it challenging to obtain appointments.
In response to the high demand for registering property documents, the state government had authorized private vendors to sell e-stamps with a limit of Rs 10 lakh, but vendors have requested an increase in the limit from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 20 lakh, given the demand.
Additionally, private vendors will be able to continue selling stamps until March 2025, as their temporary licenses have been extended by two years. DeshGujarat
