Anti-corruption Bureau (ACB) Gujarat has apprehended the husband of the sarpanch and the sarpanch of Karanpura in Detroj taluka, Ahmedabad, in a bribe case of Rs. 10,000.
The complainant, a contractor, had completed the work of the wall of a crematorium in the gram panchayat of the accused. After the approval of his bill, the accused sarpanch Hetalben Thakor’s husband Kishanji Keshaji Thakor demanded a bribe of Rs. 12,500, which was 10 percent of the bill. The complainant negotiated with both accused, and the bribe was eventually reduced to Rs. 10,000 after an argument.
As the complainant was not willing to pay the bribe, he contacted the ACB. The accused sarpanch’s husband was caught accepting the bribe of Rs. 10,000 from the complainant during a trap set by the ACB. Both accused have been detained. DeshGujarat
