Private school in Surat gives LCs to 8 children for non-payment of four years fees
April 12, 2023
Surat: Private-run Metas Adventist School in Surat handed over school-leaving certificates to 8 children over non-payment of fees in spite of the order issued by the District Education Officer (DEO) against it.
The school management clarified that the students in question were not admitted and covered under RTE (Right to Education). The school management further stated that the parents claim the school is not authorized and it is not an affiliated school, and they file affidavits for the same in DEO (District Education Office), FRC (Fees Regulation Committee), and the court, then why do they send their children to this school? This is not a government-aided school. It is run by Charitable Trust. If 8,000 students don’t pay fees, how to run this school? The parents have not paid fees for the last four years.
Students’ organization Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has taken up the issue before the District Education Office. The parents said that their money in the form of donations has been deposited in advance with the school. The parents of the 8 children said that the school had taken a donation and as per their Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the High Court, donation money has to be returned. DeshGujarat
