Rajkot couple decapitate themselves for sacrificial ritual

Rajkot: A man and his wife reportedly committed suicide by creating a guillotine-like device at their home in Gujarat’s Rajkot district, said the police on Sunday.

The couple allegedly decapitated themselves using the device so that they could offer their heads for a sacrificial ritual. Hemubhai Makwana (38) and Hansaben (35) were found dead in a hut on their farm in Vinchhiya village. They executed the plan by preparing a fire altar and placing their heads under the guillotine-like mechanism held by a rope. As soon as they released the rope, an iron blade fell on them, severing their heads, which rolled into the fire.

A suicide note was found at the spot, in which they requested their relatives to take care of their parents and children. The police were informed about the incident on Sunday morning. The couple has two children, parents, and other relatives living nearby. A case of accidental death was registered, and the bodies were sent for post-mortem. DeshGujarat
