Ahmedabad: To prevent heat-related health issues, the Directorate of Industrial Safety and Health in Ahmedabad has issued a notification instructing contractors to provide rest intervals for construction labourers at open sites between 1 pm and 4 pm from April 2023 to May 2023.

The notification instructs builders, employers, contractors, and others to provide a rest interval to labourers from 1 to 4 pm at open sites or sites directly affected by sunlight. The notification aims to prevent health issues during the summer due to extreme heat. It also states that the total work hours, including the rest interval, should not exceed 12 hours. DeshGujarat
