Heat action plan of AMC: Gardens to open till 11 pm, water kiosks at public places

Amdavad: As summer approaches and temperatures begin to soar, the Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) is taking steps to aid citizens in dealing with the heat. One such initiative involves keeping all 283 gardens in the city open to the public until 11 pm.

The AMC’s heat action plan also includes the following measures:

• 1. Anganwadis will operate only until 11.30 am to save kids from heat.
• 2. Municipal urban health centres across the city will remain open until 7 pm to offer health services to citizens.
• 3. Water and ORS (Oral Rehydration Solution) booths will be stationed at 500 locations across the city including bus depots.
• 4. Water kiosks will be set up in public spaces for easy access to drinking water
• 5. Construction site labourers have been instructed to take a rest break from noon to 4 pm to avoid working during the hottest time of the day. The AMC’s health department will monitor and conduct checks at construction sites to ensure compliance with the notification. DeshGujarat
