April 21, 2023
New Delhi: The Supreme Court of India today granted bail to eight convicts guilty of burning a train in Godhra carrying karsevaks in 2002.
After taking into account the time they had already spent in prison and their level of involvement in the crime, the apex court granted bail to these 8 convicts. These convicts are guilty of burning the S6 bogie of Sabarmati Express in which 59 Karsevaks (including women and children) were burnt to death on February 27, 2002.
The court rejected the bail pleas of four other convicts on account of their degree of participation. DeshGujarat
