ACB Gujarat nabs two cops in bribe case

Navsari: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has booked two head constables from Gandevi police station for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs. 30,000.

The incident occurred after Gandevi police arrested a person for possessing liquor. Subsequently, head constables Jaypalsinh Chauhan and Harpalsinh Zala contacted the person’s wife and demanded Rs. 50,000 from the woman in exchange for not harming her husband and providing better facilities. After some argument, the bribe amount was reduced to Rs. 30,000.

The woman then contacted the Navsari ACB, which arranged a trap to catch the head constables in the act of taking a bribe. However, they were not caught during the trap. During the primary investigation, the ACB found sufficient evidence to support the statements that the two head constables had demanded a bribe. Consequently, the ACB filed a case against the two head constables for demanding a bribe of Rs. 30,000. DeshGujarat
