Patidars to look outside Gujarat for marriages of sons
April 24, 2023
Anand: The Madhya Gujarat Samast Patidar Samaj, in a chintan shibir held at Bhalej, on Sunday decided to bring daughters of Patidars who have migrated to other states back to Gujarat through marriages to resolve the issue of a lack of females in the community.
During the chintan shibir held at the cultural centre in Bhalej, a contact team was formed to reach out to the community leaders in other States where Patidar community people reside in large numbers. The community has also decided to form a female wing to address issues related to women. A total of 125 leaders from 30 different communities gathered for the assembly. The event was managed by Hiteshbhai Patel from the Bavis Gam Charotar Leauva Patidar community.
It’s worth noting that the lack of enough Patidar daughters is an issue the community is facing for last many years. Brides for Patidar youths are sourced from even Odisha for unmarried Patidar youths in Gujarat, especially in rural Gujarat. Recently, in one of the community meet, oath of Patidar community girls was administered that they shall not marry outside the caste. DeshGujarat
