AMC identifies maintenance issues in public parks, writes to AMUL to take action
April 26, 2023
Amdavad: The Garden Department of Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) recently conducted inspections at various public gardens and discovered a range of maintenance issues that required attention. These issues included the lack of security personnel, and inadequate maintenance of compost pits, gardens, walking tracks, and play areas.
Subsequently, the officials wrote a letter to the AMUL, with which the AMC has a PPP (Public Private Partnership) agreement, requesting that they address the identified maintenance issues. The letter was based on site visits and complaints from users, and since its submission, 80% of the complaints have been resolved.
AMC has allowed Amul to open and operate shops at public gardens. In exchange of this, Amul has to maintain the garden and other facilities in the garden. While Amul shops make good business, at many gardens they fail to do proper upkeeping and maintanance.
Several gardens that were inspected are : Gardens of Chandkheda and Sabarmati wards in the West Zone, Dhanvantri Ayurvedic Garden in Paldi, Panchamrut Public Park (North West Zone), Prahladnagar Garden, gardens near Shalby Hospital and Anand Niketan School, Utsav Public Park, Pancha Lake Garden, Sarkhej Roza Garden, Safal Garden, Anandnagar, FP 185 Garden near Ishan Tower, Saptarshi Public Park (all in the south west zone), Oxygen Park near Bapunagar Police Station (North Zone), Vatva Lake Garden, Naran Patel Garden and The Joggers Park (South Zone).
