Rain helps firefighters control fire on Pavagadh Hill, 6 hectares land damaged

Panchmahal: Fire erupted in the forests of Pavagadh Hill in the Halol taluka on Saturday night. This forest fire caused damage to over 6 hectares of forest and created chaos for the district administration. Despite the efforts of firemen and forest officials who rushed to the area, the strong winds made it challenging to extinguish the flames. The officials felt relieved when rainfall occurred at approximately 3 am which immensely helped against the fire.

The Pavagadh hill is home to the famous Ma Kali Temple, which attracts thousands of tourists and devotees every day. No injuries were reported as the fire occurred at night when there were no visitors on the hill.

The forest officials and firefighters had to make a hard climb through the forest, to reach the fire that had erupted about 500 feet above the ground level near the Khuniya Mahadev Temple on the hill. The officials had to tackle the fire with equipment and bare hands as it was dark, and it was not possible to arrange water. It took 6 hours to tackle the fire. The reason for the fire is still unknown.

Moreover, there was no harm to any wildlife that resided in the forest as they might have escaped on time. DeshGujarat
