Dispute in Surat based residential society over construction of Jain temple

Surat: A dispute has occurred between Hindus and Jains living in Vesu-based Hitech Avenue over the construction of the Jain temple in the common area of the residential society.

Hindu residents of this society alleged that Jain residents of the same society had started constructing Jain derasar without discussing it with all the residents of the society.

A pre-fabrication construction was spotted by the society members on the common land. They complained about this to the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC). Athwa zone office of SMC has issued notice against the construction. However, it has further progressed, ignoring the notice.

The society is located in TP scheme number 29 in Rundh Vesu Magdalla over final plot number 29 in the Athwa zone.

The Hindus gathered against the ongoing construction of the Jain temple in the evening as it was going on in spite of the notice issued by SMC. The Hindus stated that the fabrication work has been started at the exit gate. Following the dispute, Athwa zone SMC staff and police reached the spot, however, the Jain community members continued to build the temple. DeshGujarat
