Gujarat textbook board revises books for classes 6-12
May 10, 2023
Gandhinagar: The Gujarat State School Textbook Board (GSSTB) has revised the syllabus for classes 6 to 12, based on the recommendations of the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT).
Some chapters and topics from subjects such as mathematics, science, biology, physics, and chemistry have been removed or modified in class 10, 11, and 12 textbooks, while some topics have also been revised in class 6 to 10 textbooks.
The move comes after a teachers’ association had written to the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) requesting a reduction in the syllabus for classes 9 to 12, in line with the New Education Policy.
The district education officers have recommended that schools start using the updated textbooks from the academic year 2023-24 to lighten the syllabus load on students. However, students in classes 11 and 12 have already started studying from the old textbooks in both schools and private tuition classes. DeshGujarat
