Heatwave forecast for parts of Gujarat; Orange alert in Ahmedabad

Gandhinagar: The heat wave is expected to persist in several districts of the state in the coming days, according to the weather forecast report of the India Meteorological Department.
The bulletin stated “Discomfort conditions due to high Temperature in the range of 42 to 44 0C over interior parts of Gujarat region & Saurashtra-Kutch and also hot & humid air over the coastal areas of Saurashtra-Kutch and South Gujarat region are very likely to prevail during next 2 days. ”
On May 11th, “Heat wave conditions very likely to prevail at isolated pockets in the districts of Gujarat region
& Saurashtra- Kutch namely Anand, Junagadh, Surat, Botad, Porbandar, Surendranagar, Gir Somnath and Kutch”
On May 12th, “Heat wave conditions very likely to prevail at isolated pockets in the districts of Gujarat region & Saurashtra- Kutch namely Anand, Surat, Botad, Porbandar, Surendranagar and Kutch.”
Meteorological Centre in Ahmedabad has also issued an orange alert. the maximum temperature of the city is likely to remain above 42 degrees Celsius for the whole week.
Severe Heat wave Criteria :
When maximum temp. departure ≥ 6.5 deg. C from normal & maximum temperature ≥ 40 deg.C
Heat wave Criteria :
When maximum temp. departure ≥ 4.5 deg. C from normal & maximum temperature ≥ 40 deg.C
