Orange to yellow heat alerts for Ahmedabad during May 14–16

Ahmedabad: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for the city of Ahmedabad on May 14, Sunday and a yellow alert for the next two days May 15 and 16.

According to the Meteorological Centre in Ahmedabad, the maximum temperature of the city is likely to remain above 41 degrees Celsius for the whole week. A heatwave is most likely to occur on May 14-15, very likely on May 16, 17 and 18.

Severe Heat wave Criteria :

When maximum temp. departure ≥ 6.5 deg. C from normal & maximum temperature ≥ 40 deg.C

Heat wave Criteria :

When maximum temp. departure ≥ 4.5 deg. C from normal & maximum temperature ≥ 40 deg.C
