Sand sculptures of iconic structures from 20 countries in Diu ahead of G20 meet

Diu: A 15-member team from various states is in Diu to create iconic landmark places from 20 countries that are part of the G20 group. The landmarks are being made only using sand and water in an eco-friendly way. The theme is titled ‘imaginations in sands’. Diu district administration is supervising the initiative. Australia’s Sydney Opera House and Brazil’s Christ the Redeemer are some of the iconic structures that are being made using sand in Diu.

India during its G20 presidency will hold one mega ministerial summit on science in Mumbai and five other meetings on different aspects of technological progress and challenges in different cities this year under the Research and Innovation Initiative Gathering (RIIG) — an important part of the country’s science engagements in the group of developed and emerging economies. RIIG Meeting on Scientific Challenges and Opportunities for a Sustainable Blue Economy will take place in Diu during May 18-19 in Diu.
