Student alleges sodomy at Bhavnagar Medical College; Dean orders probe

Bhavnagar: The dean of the Government Medical College of Bhavnagar has formed a committee to inquire into an alleged incident where an undergraduate student was subjected to sodomy by a resident doctor.

According to reports, an undergraduate student was allegedly subjected to unnatural sex by a senior resident doctor. College dean HB Mehta confirmed the incident, which occurred on the night of May 12, and stated that an inquiry committee has been formed to investigate the complaint. The dean has also instructed the committee to determine if there are other victims involved.

The victim, who was staying in the hostel for undergraduate students, was reportedly called to the postgraduate hostel, where the senior resident forced him into the sexual act. The dean was notified of the incident late at night and immediately sent the victim for a medical examination. Later, early in the morning on May 13, the dean also submitted an application to the Nilambaug police station.

PD Parmar, the inspector of Nilambaug police station, informed me that the police conducted a meeting with the victim, his father, and the village sarpanch, but they declined to register a complaint and requested more time for consideration. Later, when the police received the dean’s application on May 13, they once again requested the victim come forward to file an FIR, but their efforts were unsuccessful. DeshGujarat
