Protest in LPD school in Surat after students asked to remove religious threads

Surat: The NSUI (National Students’ Union of India) held an agitation over the removal of religious threads from the hands of students at LPD School in Puna, Surat.

According to reports, the teachers at LPD School in the Puna area of the city instructed the students to remove the black threads and Rudraksha mala from their hands. The NSUI took strong objection to this and staged a protest at the school on Monday. NSUI announced that if the issue is not resolved within two days, they would intensify their protest. Mitesh, the vice president of NSUI, stated that the students wear these religious threads as symbols of their faith in the Hindu religion. However, the school has a rule prohibiting students from wearing religious threads.

A few days ago, the teachers forcefully removed the threads from the students’ hands, leading to a complaint by NSUI members to the school’s principal and trustees. They also filed a complaint with the district education officer. In response, the school’s principal, Vijay Patel, stated that the rule was implemented with the students’ health in mind and not as the intention to insult the Hindu religion. DeshGujarat
