Vadodara: Once again, a group of MSU students, led by Jay Makwana, organized the Lord Jagannathji’s Robo Rath Yatra here in the city, a tradition they have upheld for the past 10 years.

This unique concept features a replica of the ‘Nandighosh’ chariot taken in the service of Shri Jagannathji controlled by a remote, carrying Lord Jagannath, Subhadra, and Balbhadra. The chariot, equipped with solar panels, delivers a powerful message about utilizing renewable energy sources and preserving the environment.

Inspired by the annual construction of new wooden chariots in Jagannath Puri, Jay Makwana devised the idea a decade ago. He designed a robot-driven chariot with a remote-controlled robotic motor, and this year, he further enhanced it by incorporating solar-charged batteries and panels on the Sudarshan Chakra fitted atop the chariot.

Makwana emphasizes the responsible use of science and the importance of spreading awareness. The Rath Yatra, celebrated on June 20, marks the second day of the Ashadha month in the Hindu calendar. DeshGujarat
