Ahmedabad to have double-decker AC buses soon

Ahmedabad: The city municipal commissioner today while interacting with the media persons here said that the AMC arm AMTS will purchase double-decker buses soon. He said in the first phase, 25 double-decker e-buses will be purchased. All these buses shall be air-conditioned. It’s worth noting here that the city had in the past double-decker buses run by AMTS but they were gradually phased out. There’s not been a single double-decker bus operating in Ahmedabad in the last many many years.

He further said AMC will in the next two weeks announce a tender for the purchase of 100 AC buses. He said all buses to be purchased in future for AMTS shall be air-conditioned buses only. Out of 325 new buses planned for purchase, 300 shall be electric buses.

AMTS plans to acquire 9m ‘midi’ CNG buses, 300 midi e-buses, 25 double-decker e-buses, and 10 vestibule e-buses. In addition to that, the civic body will introduce 200 new 11-meter CNG buses into its fleet, said Arjav Shah, Transport Manager of AMTS.  DeshGujarat
