Gujarat HC stays demolition of two dargahs in Aravalli
June 28, 2023
Arvalli: The Gujarat High Court has issued a stay order on the demolition of two dargahs in the Aravalli district of North Gujarat.
The appellant claimed that two dargahs, namely Chand Peer Saiyad Dargah and Bala Peer Dargah in the Aravalli district, are over 100 years old. Justice Sangeeta Vishen ordered to maintain the existing situation in this case. The next hearing is scheduled for July 17th.
The appellant also claimed that the dargahs have been recorded in the revenue records since 1984, and Muslims perform religious rituals, including Urf and Fateeha, at the dargahs. They further claimed that the dargahs were destroyed during the communal riots of 2002.
It’s worth noting that illegal encroachments in the name of religion have increasingly popped up in various parts of the State in the last few years. DeshGujarat
