Gandhinagar: Gujarat has always inspired other states in the country by pioneering many fields. Recently, the Minister of Labor and Employment, Mr. Balwantsinh Rajput, provided information about the annual report published by the Ministry of Labor and Employment of the Government of India. He stated that since 2002, Gujarat has consistently ranked first in the country in providing employment to youth through employment offices.
This year again, Gujarat has maintained its position at the top. According to the recently published ‘Employment Exchange Statistics-2023’, Gujarat has once again secured the first rank in providing employment through employment offices in 2022, which is a matter of pride for the state.
Minister Rajput further mentioned that the state government is continuously working towards ensuring proper employment opportunities for the youth. They have undertaken various efforts, including organizing employment fairs. As a result, Gujarat has consistently been leading in providing employment. Over a span of five years from 2018-19 to 2022-23, employment offices have offered jobs to more than 1.5 million candidates. During this period, the state has provided employment to over 800,000 candidates solely through organizing more than 7,000 recruitment fairs.
Additionally, as part of a new initiative, the state government has developed the “Anubandham” web portal and mobile app with the aim of providing employment opportunities to Gujarat’s youth and connecting employers with suitable candidates through an online system. This web portal now serves as a bridge between employers and job seekers.
According to the ‘Employment Exchange Statistics-2023’, a total of 644,600 youths across the country were employed in 2022. Gujarat alone provided employment to 43 percent, which amounts to 274,800 youths. Furthermore, the country registered a total of 1,367,600 vacant positions, and Gujarat ranks second with 359,900 registered vacant posts.
As per the report published in March 2023, Gujarat holds the first position in providing employment to the youth of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. Out of the 38,700 Scheduled Caste youths employed in India in 2022, Gujarat employed 22,600, accounting for 58 percent. Similarly, out of the 22,000 candidates from Scheduled Tribes who secured jobs in India, 19,100 candidates, or 86 percent, were employed in Gujarat.
The state ensures equal employment opportunities for both men and women. According to the report, Gujarat secures the second rank nationwide in employing women. In 2022, a total of 122,700 women were employed across India, and Gujarat provided employment to 45,800 women, accounting for 37 percent. Additionally, Gujarat ranks first in the country in terms of the registration of women seeking employment, contributing 75 percent to the overall 8 percent enrollment of women in India. DeshGujarat
