Class 10 boy from Rajkot elopes with class 12 girl, faces POCSO charges

Rajkot: A teenage boy, studying in class 10 from Rajkot, eloped with a teenage girl who is studying in class 12.

The girl, aged 15 years and 11 months, resides in the Gondal Road area and attends school at Kothariya Road. The boy, aged 15 years and 1 month, lives near her home and is in class 10. They were involved in a romantic relationship and decided to run away together. On July 5th, the boy went to her school and they eloped. The girl’s family searched for her in various places, and her parents filed a kidnapping complaint at Bhaktinagar police station.

The police located them in Porbandar and caught both individuals. The boy was questioned by the police. According to his statement, after eloping with the girl, they reached Greenland Chokdi and then travelled to Ahmedabad on a private bus. From Ahmedabad, they went to Surat and returned to Ahmedabad. They repeated the journey to Surat and back to Ahmedabad before heading to Dwarka. Finally, they arrived in Porbandar, where they were caught by the police.

During their travels, the boy had Rs. 35,000, which they used for expenses. They were unable to find accommodation in hotels as they did not have identification proof, so they did not stay overnight in any city. Instead, they travelled to different cities on sleeper coach buses during the night. The boy stated that they engaged in sexual intercourse approximately five times during their travels on the sleeper coach buses.

The police have charged the boy with rape and POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses) offences. DeshGujarat
