Rainfall activity to increase from July 16 in Gujarat: IMD

Gandhinagar: Light to moderate rains are very likely in isolated places in Gujarat from July 12 to 15. However, starting July 16, the rainfall is likely to increase in all the districts of Gujarat.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that from July 12 to 14, Light to Moderate rain is likely in isolated parts of the state. On July 15, a few places in all the districts of Gujarat are likely to get rain. But from July 16 to 18, most places in both Gujarat and the Saurashtra-Kutch region will experience light to moderate rain. During this period, some isolated places may also experience heavy rainfall.

Addressing the media, Ahmedabad IMD director Manorama Mohanty said, “Today, Light to moderate rains are likely in isolated places of Gujarat; however, one or two spells of heavy rain might occur in isolated places of the district, namely in Narmada, Surat, Tapi, Dang, Navsari, and Valsad of South Gujarat. Amreli, Bhavnagar, and Gir Somnath may also get some heavy rain.”

“From July 16, the rainfall activity in Gujarat will increase, and on July 16, 17, and 18, most places in the Gujarat region are likely to get rain. She added that the Saurashtra-Kucth region is also very likely to get scattered rainfall in many places,” she added.

As of now, cloud and precipitation systems are not active for the next 4 days, and Ahmedabad is also likely to get light rain. Gujarat state as a whole has received around 60% of the average monsoon rain, Mohanty further said.

On July 12: Heavy rains are very likely at isolated places in the districts of Gujarat region namely Aravalli, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, Vadodara, Chhotaudepur, Bharuch, Narmada, Surat, Tapi, Dang , Navsari, Valsad, and in Daman, Dadra Nagar Haveli; in the districts of Saurashtra namely Amreli, Bhavnagar and Gir Somnath.

On July 13: Heavy rains are very likely at isolated places in the districts of Saurashtra namely Amreli, Bhavnagar and Gir Somnath

On July 16: Heavy rains are very likely at isolated places in the districts of Gujarat region namely Banaskantha, Patan, Navsari, Valsad, and in Daman, Dadra Nagar Haveli; in the districts of SaurashtraKutch namely Jamnagar, Dwarka and Kutch.
