AMC to auction 5 properties to recover property tax
July 13, 2023
Ahmedabad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has decided to auction five properties, two of which are located in the Law Garden area and three in the Swastik Society of Navrangpura, in order to recover outstanding property tax amounts ranging from Rs 10.43 lakh to Rs 50 lakh. The auction is expected to occur in the final week of July.
Jainik Vakil, the chairman of the AMC revenue committee, stated that the decision to auction these properties was made after the owners failed to comply with the AMC’s demands. Despite receiving notices and warnings about the impending auction, the owners still neglected to make the necessary payments.
Once a property is auctioned, the AMC will use the proceeds to recover the outstanding tax dues and return the remaining amount to the original owner. These five properties will likely be auctioned in the final week of July. Anyone can participate in the auction by presenting their Aadhaar card. The total value of the properties to be auctioned stands at 4.67 crores, with the pending tax amounting to around 1.24 crores.
AMC has collected a total of Rs 842 crore in taxes, including property, professional, and vehicle taxes, since April. This amount is Rs 220 crore higher than the collection during the same period last year, Vakil added. DeshGujarat
