Four teams of NDRF and SDRF in Junagadh, 950 relocated; Gujarat CM reviews situation

Gandhinagar: Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel reviewed the situation in Junagadh district after arriving at the State Emergency Operation Center from Gandhinagar today evening.

During the video conference, the Chief Minister, along with the Junagadh District Collector, assessed the situation. The Chief Minister was informed about the arrangements to relocate people to safer places in Junagadh city, where the water levels are higher. Additionally, they discussed the provision of food packets and other necessities to the water-affected areas.

Relief operations in Junagadh city are being conducted in full force with the assistance of two teams each from NDRF and SDRF, along with the local administration, the Chief Minister was informed.

Dewatering pumps have been arranged from nearby cities, including Rajkot, to promptly evacuate waterlogged areas. The administration has also made necessary provisions, including food packets, for the evacuated residents from Kalwa Chowk and surrounding societies in Junagadh city, which experienced heavy rains from Girnar mountain.

As there has been no rain in the city for the last few hours, the water level is decreasing, and the situation is now under control.

The Junagadh Collector briefed the Chief Minister, stating that the city has experienced over 10 inches of rain, resulting in flooding. Immediate rescue operations have saved approximately 200 people, while around 750 people were previously shifted to safer locations. Moreover, around 20,000 food packets have been prepared for distribution in the severely flooded areas. Currently, the water situation in the city is under control, but the district administration remains vigilant to address any heavy rains during the night. Electricity has been restored in 80 percent of the city’s areas, and teams are continuously working to restore power in the remaining areas as soon as possible.
