Ahmedabad: Gunjan Kantiya, a 31-year-old man, tried to convince his wife that he was a secret service agent by visiting the National Investigation Agency (NIA) office on SP Road in Jagatpur here on Tuesday. He entered the office with a fake ID while his wife waited in the car outside. However, the NIA officers quickly identified the fake ID and handed him over to the Gujarat ATS headquarters.

Kantiya hails from Amreli and resides in Aalloa village of Gandhinagar’s Mansa taluka, is the owner of a visa consultancy firm located in Mansa.

Kantiya was in possession of a forged ID card that displayed his name, issued on March 14, 2018, and indicated his rank as a sub-inspector (deputation). Additionally, he had another counterfeit ID, which presented him as a deputy executive engineer in the Road and Building Department of the Gujarat government.

Kantiya confessed to using these fake IDs at several places to get work done and to gain access to circuit houses. He downloaded logos and signatures of high-ranking officers from NIA and other government departments to forge the IDs. DeshGujarat
