Nadabet: CM Bhupendra Patel virtually dedicated the Wolf Soft Release Center in Nadabet today.
During the Van Mahotsav and Van Kavach inauguration ceremony, CM Patel virtually dedicated the Wolf Soft Release Center in Nadabet, located in Suigam taluka, Banaskantha. The deputy forest conservator of Banaskantha, PJ Chaudhary, informed that the process of shifting the wolves will start after its dedication by CM Patel. The center includes natural habitats and pre-release cages for wolves spread across 4 hectares, as well as cages for herbivore animals covering 1 hectare. Various facilities, such as an animal house, monitoring unit, and medical unit, have been set up for the treatment and observation of the wolves.
According to the census report by Gir Foundation, the population of Nilgai in Banaskantha district was over 33,000. To naturally control the Nilgai population, it is necessary to increase the number of wolves in the area. Within the last 5 years, approximately 70 wolves were born in the Wolf breeding center at Sakkarbaug Zoo, Junagadh. The soft release center aims to rehabilitate the baby wolves in their natural environment and naturally control the population of herbivore animals like Nilgai and wild boars. DeshGujarat
