Gujarat BJP General Secretary Pradipsinh Vaghela steps down

Gandhinagar: General Secretary of the Gujarat unit of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Pradipsinh Vaghela offered to step down from the post about a week ago.

According to State party general secretary Rajnibhai Patel, Vaghela offered his resignation for personal reasons. Patel said Vaghela wished that he would step down and not work for some time as it is not convenient for him for now.

Patel said Vaghela has voluntarily resigned as per his own wish and resignation is accepted. However, in the same reply, Patel said Vaghela is the current general secretary of the party.

Patel was replying to media queries after a function of the party to distribute postcards at the State headquarters to which the media was invited.

The party which completely avoids discussing such issues in public had not shared a word on this, but in the last 24 hours, a buzz limited to the State capital Gandhinagar has turned into the news in media across Gujarat.

Patel refuted a media report which claimed Vaghela was banned from entry into the State party headquarters. Patel said Vaghela continues to be the party’s cadre and any party worker can have access to the State party headquarters. Patel admired Vaghela as an active and loyal party worker.

Party leader Rutvik Patel stated that Vaghela would accept new responsibilities whichever is assigned to him by the party in the future. Rutvik Patel refuted a media report that claimed Vaghela’s resignation was linked to any complain or any other thing. Rutvik Patel said it was purely Vaghela’s own wish to get free from the current responsibilities.

Vaghela’s Twitter profile continues to mention his post as General Secretary of the State BJP. Earlier in April this year, another State BJP general secretary Bhargav Bhatt resigned, but that was as per the State party chief’s direction.

Former Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) Gujarat chief Vaghela was Secretary of State BJP since 2016. In 2021, CR Patil after becoming Gujarat BJP chief announced his new team in which he appointed five general secretaries – Bhikhubhai Dalsania(retained), Bhagrav Bhatt(shifted from Vice President to General Secretary post), Rajni Patel, Pradipsinh Vaghela, and Vinod Chavda. Subsequently in the last three years, Bhikhubhai was sent to Bihar and replaced with Ratnakar Pandey. Bhargav Bhatt was relieved. And now Pradipsinh Vaghela has offered to step down. DeshGujarat
