Pre- Navratri Garba events 2023 kick off abroad in non-resident Gujarati community
August 05, 2023
Australia: Pre-Navratri celebrations have started among the non-resident Gujarati community, even though Navratri 2023 is over 2 months away. One such celebration was held in Auckland, New Zealand yesterday, where more than five thousand people performed Garba on songs by Vadodara-based renowned Garba Singer Atul Purohit.
This event was the first one in a chain of many more pre-Navratri Garba nights to come in New Zealand and also in Australia. As a part of a month-long tour in Australia, Garba Nights are scheduled on the 11th & 12th of August in Sydney, and on the 18th and 19th of August in Melbourne. There are also single-night events in Brisbane, Adelaide, and Perth on the 20th, 25th, and 27th of August, respectively.
After completing the Australia tour, Atul Purohit has planned shows in the USA. On September 1, a Garba night will be held in Houston, on September 9th in Atlanta, and after that in Chicago, USA on September 22nd.
Even before yesterday’s event, Falguni Pathak has already performed in Sydney and Melbourne as part of the Australia tour in July.
Navratri this year will fall in October from the 15th to the 24th when Gujaratis will perform garba every night of these nine days. DeshGujarat
