Gandhinagar: The State General Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Rajnibhai Patel, addressed a press conference today at the state party headquarters ‘Kamalam’ here regarding the results of the local body by-polls that occurred on Sunday. Out of the 30 seats that went to by-elections, the BJP has emerged victorious in a total of 21.
During the press conference, Rajnibhai Patel stated that the results demonstrate the people of Gujarat’s faith in the BJP, and he extended gratitude to all the voters for their confidence in the party.
Patel said, the BJP has secured victory in 21 out of 30 seats. Notably, in Mundra, the BJP has secured a seat for the first time since independence. He also highlighted that approximately 70 percent of the seats have been claimed by the BJP.
Both the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) were unable to retain their deposits on several seats. The Congress lost its deposits on seats like Rajpipla and Palitana. Similarly, the AAP couldn’t secure its deposits in locations such as Surat, Rajpipla, Godhra, Porbandar, and Dhangadhra. Interestingly, Arjun Modhwadia, a Congress leader representing Porbandar in the State Assembly, saw a BJP candidate win a seat in the Chhaya municipality within the same constituency, Rajnibhai Patel added.
Speaking about the AAP’s announcement of contesting the 2024 Lok Sabha elections jointly with the Congress party, Patel stated, “Given that it is evident Narendra Modi’s government at the center will secure a third term in power, these opposition parties are attempting to conceal their past wrongdoings by uniting. This reveals their apprehension about themselves and the BJP’s triumph. Whether they unite in Gujarat or anywhere else in the country, it will not alter the trust voters place in PM Modi.”
