Vadodara: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat nabbed an unarmed police sub-inspector today in Savli here in a bribery case involving a bribe amount of ₹20,000.
ACB said in a note that the husband of the complainant worked as a mechanic. He had purchased a second-hand Swift Dzire car in the name of his brother. Later, the vehicle was notarized and registered on the stamp paper in the name of the complainant’s husband. In 2019, the complainant’s husband mortgaged the car as he needed ₹1,20,000. However, as he was unable to make the repayment, the lender gave the vehicle to someone else to use. The vehicle was subsequently seized by the police for transporting liquor. Since the vehicle was registered in the name of the complainant’s brother-in-law, he was also nabbed. Following that, the accused cop namely DM Vansadiya demanded ₹35,000 in exchange for settling the case. Later, the bribe amount was negotiated down to ₹20,000.
As the complainant was not willing to pay the bribe, they contacted the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB). Based on their information, during the trap operation today, the accused was caught red-handed while taking the bribe. DeshGujarat
