Hindu woman’s suicide note alleges harassment by a Muslim man

Kheda: An incident has come to light in Mehmedabad, where a married Hindu woman ended her life by hanging herself due to the torment inflicted by a Muslim man. Prior to taking this tragic step, the deceased left behind a suicide note, detailing the torment she had endured and expressing her desire for justice against the perpetrator.

According to a complaint lodged by the deceased woman’s brother, who resides in Ahmedabad, her younger sister, named Parulben, also known as Kajal, was married to Prakash Prajapati from Mehmedabad. They were parents to two children as well. Approximately five months ago, a certain Toseef Pathan, residing in Vav Paliya, Mehmedabad, allegedly began harassing Parul through phone calls and messages. Disturbingly, in March, Toseef Pathan even went to Parul’s residence and molested her. In response, a molestation complaint was filed against Toseef Pathan at the Mehmedabad police station.

Despite the complaint, Toseef Pathan continued his harassment, using unknown numbers to contact Parul and sending threatening messages on WhatsApp. These messages contained threats to harm her family members and tarnish her reputation unless she complied with his demands. Consequently, Parul lived under constant distress.

Complainant who is brother of victim woman stated that a day before, Prakashbhai informed him that Parul had strangled herself by hanging from a fan. During a search of her belongings, an old diary was discovered, containing a suicide note on one of its pages. The note implicated Toseef Pathan, blaming him for ruining her life, blackmailing her, demanding money, and even threatening to harm her husband, Prakash, if his demands were not met. The suicide note fervently appealed for justice and accountability, holding Toseef Pathan solely responsible for her tragic decision, the complainant added.

The Mehmedabad police have initiated legal proceedings based on a complaint filed by the deceased woman’s brother. Under Section 306 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), they have registered a case against the accused Toseef Pathan and are pursuing further legal action. DeshGujarat
