Hybrid hearing system in Gujarat High Court now available on all working days
August 16, 2023
Ahmedabad: The pilot project for hybrid hearings, which was introduced under the guidance of then Acting Chief Justice AJ Desai in the Gujarat High Court, has now been extended to all working days.
This project facilitates advocates’ participation in hearings through video conferencing. Advocates interested in attending High Court hearings via the ZOOM application can access the Gujarat High Court’s website to initiate the process. In its initial phase, this hybrid hearing system was available exclusively on Thursdays. However, the Gujarat High Court has now broadened the permission to conduct cases in hybrid mode on all working days, not limited to Thursdays.
It is also noteworthy that this facility was previously exclusively available in the courts of Chief Justice Sunita Aggarwal and Biren Vaishnav. Presently, it has also been extended to the courts of Judge Ashutosh Shastri and S.S. Supehia. The possibility of introducing this facility in more judges’ courts is under consideration for the near future.
Hearings conducted through video conferencing are also live-streamed on YouTube. The adoption of new technology has surged since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic. This facility has proven particularly advantageous for advocates traveling from distant locations. However, it remains imperative for lawyers to adhere to court guidelines even during video conference hearings. DeshGujarat
