Banaskantha authorities detain 45 Pakistani Hindus for overstay after visa expiry
August 21, 2023
Banaskantha: A group of forty-five individuals from Pakistan, belonging to the Hindu community, were detained in Banaskantha here in North Gujarat for overstaying in the area of Akoli village even after their visas had expired. Their requests for long-term visas (LTVs) had also been declined.
Santosh Dhobi, an inspector from the local intelligence bureau, stated that efforts were in progress to repatriate these Pakistani citizens to their home country. Dhobi further explained that these individuals had initially entered India with the purpose of visiting Haridwar in Uttarakhand and had subsequently journeyed to Banaskantha to meet their relatives. They had legally held valid visas, allowing them to stay in India for the past two months. However, their extended stay resulted from the expiration of their visas and the non-approval of their applications for long-term visas.
The individuals had remained within Banaskantha’s vicinity for approximately four to five days before their detention. DeshGujarat
