Gandhinagar: The state government has allocated 7,695 square meters of land near Rangmanch in sector 16 for constructing a new office building of Gandhinagar Jilla Panchayat.
The current building of Gandhinagar Jilla Panchayat in Sector 17 is in a dilapidated condition. Incidents of fire due to old wiring and instances of falling debris have occurred repeatedly in the existing building. The office’s data center was also destroyed by fire a few years ago. Leaders from both the ruling party and the opposition party had demanded the allocation of land for a new building.
The Roads & Buildings Department of the state government has ultimately decided to allocate 7,695 square meters out of the 10,200 square meters of land to the west of the open-air theatre near RangManch in Sector 16. The construction of the new building is expected to be completed within 2 years following the land allocation.
The costs for the basic facilities on the plot designated for the new office building are expected to be covered by Gandhinagar Zilla Panchayat. The removal of illegal slums on the land will be carried out soon. DeshGujarat
