Police to collect statements on Disturbed Areas Act implementation in Fatehgunj of Vadodara
August 21, 2023
Vadodara: Fatehgunj police will take statements from local residents on Tuesday, to make ground for the enforcement of the Disturbed Areas Act throughout the Fatehgunj area.
For the past 15 years, the local Hindu community in the Fatehgunj area has been advocating for the implementation of the Disturbed Areas Act across the entire locality. Although the state government had previously declared to implement the Disturbed Areas Act in this area, only a limited number of houses in Kamatipura were actually covered by the Act.
The Hindu leaders alleged that builders from the Muslim community from outside the area recently purchased properties in Fatehganj by enticing owners with larger sums of money or by threatening them. These builders create documents using the names of Hindu middlemen or Hindu brokers. Subsequently, they construct apartments in the area and sell them to Muslim buyers.
Jayesh Parikh, who has been leading a campaign for the implementation of the Disturbed Areas Act throughout the Fatehgunj area for 15 years, shared that the state government in Gandhinagar issued an order to the district collector in response to their demand. Consequently, the collector directed the Fatehgunj police to gather statements from local residents regarding the potential implementation of the Disturbed Areas Act across the entire Fatehgunj area.
