Car submerges in lake in Gandhinagar, leaving 4 dead and 1 missing

Gandhinagar: At least four individuals lost their lives today after their car drowned in Khayna Lake near Dashela village in here in state capital. One person remains missing, prompting an ongoing search operation. The incident occurred when the vehicle became trapped in the lake on Monday night due to low visibility and incessant rains. The police launched an investigation using mobile location data, revealing that the car had become submerged.

The deceased have been identified as Nimesh Ganpatbhai Parmar, Bharat Mahendra Solanki, Vinay Hiteshbhai Barber, and Gaurang Yogesh Bhatt. The search for one Shailesh Rathore, who remains unaccounted for, is ongoing, as is the search for the car in which these friends were travelling.

The group of five youths, consisting of four individuals from the Naroda area in Ahmedabad and one local resident of Gandhinagar, had recently returned from a sightseeing trip in Rajasthan. During their journey, they were dropping off Gaurang Bhatt, a Dashela, Gandhinagar resident. Unfortunately, reduced visibility due to continuous nighttime rainfall led to the car’s submersion in the lake. Gaurang urgently contacted his father to convey this critical information, but the call was abruptly terminated.

After getting this information, the police promptly started a search and rescue operation, despite the unknown location. With the help of mobile location data, law enforcement traced the incident’s location and arrived at the lake. Since last night, family members and villagers have actively participated in the lake search, with support from a fire brigade team.
