SMC to construct 20 new urban health centers

Surat: Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) will build 20 new Urban Health Centres (UHC) across the city.
After the instructions from the state government to build one UHC per 50 thousand people. SMC has planned to build 20 new UHCs, including 4 in Rander zone, 3 in Limbayat zone, 5 in Sarthana zone, 4 in Katargam zone, and 1 in Udhna zone. There are 61 UHCs in the city at present. As per the estimated population of the city, 20 new UHCs are required to fulfil the instructions of the state government. The state government approved a grant of Rs 1.5 crore for building UHCs. The number of UHCs will be 88 after the construction of 20 new UHCs.
Each UHC will have 22 employees, including a medical officer, a nurse, a lab technician, a pharmacist, a peon, a security guard, five multiple primary health workers, and five female health workers. The state government will pay the salaries of the 22 employees of each UHC. DeshGujarat
