MoS Home Sanghavi’s unique approach to resolving public grievances using technology
September 27, 2023
Surat: Harsh Sanghavi, the Minister of State for Home and MLA representing the Majura constituency in the city, has adopted a unique and proactive approach to public service with the assistance of technology. Sanghavi has been addressing the concerns of the people of Gujarat with help of a software solution known as “Harsh Sanghavi E-Office.”
After being elected as an MLA for the first time in 2012, Sanghavi introduced the “Harsh Sanghavi E-Office” software, which encompasses 17 departments, recognizing the significance of technology in governance.
This software allows individuals to report their issues, which are then recorded in the system along with details of whether they have been resolved. Once a problem is submitted in writing, his team sends a PDF to the relevant department for resolution. The name of the responsible officer is registered in the software, with a target to resolve the issue within two to four weeks. This approach has proven highly effective, resulting in the successful resolution of a significant number of problems.
Harsh Sanghavi shares that he typically receives between 3,200 to 3,500 complaints each month. In the current year, up until September, he has received an impressive 28,430 complaints. After addressing the issues and then forwarding complaints related to other departments to the respective authorities, he and his team track the progress of these cases online using mobile technology.
To ensure accessibility to his office, Harsh Sanghavi invites citizens to contact him through email if they are unable to visit his office in Gandhinagar or Surat.
After meeting with the Home Minister, individuals receive an SMS on their mobile phones. Furthermore, they have the opportunity to provide feedback on their experience, including interactions with his office staff. Harsh Sanghavi personally monitors this feedback and communicates with applicants about the status of their complaints. He has assembled a team of 18 individuals working in Gandhinagar and Surat to support the software’s operations.
Beyond addressing grievances, Harsh Sanghavi uses the software to send birthday wishes to every resident of the Majura assembly constituency in Surat. This practice ensures that he maintains a strong connection with his constituents, even in good and challenging times. DeshGujarat
