1462 kg of adulterated ghee worth ₹4 lakhs seized in Nadiad

Nadiad: The flying squad and the local food team conducted a raid at M/s. Shri Kshem Kalyani Milk and Milk Products in Salun-Talpad here and seized around 1462 kg of adulterated ghee, valued at more than 4 lakhs, announced Dr. H. G. Koshia, Commissioner of the Food-Drug Regulatory Dept.

Mr. Koshia added that with the upcoming Navratri and Diwali festivals, intensive checks are being carried out to prevent the adulteration of edible substances and to ensure the public’s access to pure food. As part of this effort, the flying squad from the head office and the local food team in Nadiad jointly seized a suspicious quantity of ghee. This quantity was sold by the trader Raulji Dilipkumar Khumansingh. During the preliminary investigation at the premises in Salon-Talpad, Nadiad, District-Kheda, suspected Mahidhara brand ghee was found to be manufactured on-site. Shri Kshem Kalyani Milk & Milk Products holds an FSSAI license and is engaged in the business/trading of ghee. The raid was conducted based on a tip-off regarding ghee adulteration by the trader.

He further mentioned that two samples of ghee and two samples of vegetable fat were collected from the site, and a total of four samples have been sent to the laboratory for analysis. The remaining quantity of approximately 1462 kilograms, valued at Rs. 4,05,864/-, has been confiscated in accordance with the law. After the analysis report confirms the unhealthiness of these food items, legal action will be taken, and further detailed investigations are ongoing in this matter.

(Gujarati press release by FDC: ખોરાક- ઔષધ નિયમન તંત્ર કમિશનર ડો. એચ. જી કોશિયા જણાવ્યું છે કે, ફ્લાઇંગ સ્ક્વોડ અને સ્થાનિક ફૂડ ટીમ દ્વારા સલુન-તલપદ, નડિયાદ ખાતે આવેલી મે. શ્રી ક્ષેમ કલ્યાણી મિલ્ક એન્ડ મિલ્ક પ્રોડક્ટ્સમાંથી અંદાજે રૂા. ૪ લાખથી વધુ કિંમતનો ૧૪૬૨ કિ.ગ્રામ ભેળસેળવાળો ઘીનો શંકાસ્પદ જથ્થો જપ્ત કરવામાં આવ્યો છે. શ્રી કોશિયાએ ઉમેર્યું કે, તાજેતરમાં નવરાત્રી અને દિવાળીના તહેવારો આવી રહ્યા હોય જાહેર જનતાને શુદ્ધ ખોરાક મળી રહે તે માટે તંત્ર દ્વારા ખડીઃ પદાર્થોમાં ભેળસેળની સઘન તપાસ હાથ ધરવામા આવે છે. જેના ભાગરૂપે વડી કચેરીની ફ્લાયિંગ સ્ક્વોડ અને નડિયાદની સ્થાનિક ફૂડ ટીમ દ્વારા સંયુક્ત રીતે ઘીનો શંકાસ્પદ જથ્થો પકડી પાડ્યો છે. આ જથ્થો વેપારી રાઉલજી દિલીપકુમાર ખુમાનસિંહ દ્વારા મે. શ્રી ક્ષેમ કલ્યાણી મિલ્ક એન્ડ મિલ્ક પ્રોડક્ટ્સ, મુ. સલુન-તલપદ, તા: નડિઆદ, જિ-ખેડા ખાતે રાખવામાં આવેલી જગ્યામાં પ્રાથમિક તપાસ દરમિયાન સ્થળ ઉપર શંકાસ્પદ મહીધરા બ્રાન્ડ ઘીનું ઉત્પાદન થતુ જોવા મળી આવ્યું હતું. આ વેપારી મે. શ્રી ક્ષેમ કલ્યાણી મિલ્ક એન્ડ મિલ્ક પ્રોડક્ટ્સ નામે આ જગ્યા પર એફ.એસ.એસ.એ.આઇ લાયસન્સ ધરાવે છે અને ઘી બનાવવાનો ધંધો /વેપાર કરે છે. આ વેપારી ઘીમાં ભેળસેળ કરે છે તેવી તંત્રને મળેલ બાતમીનાં આધારે રેડ કરવામાં આવી હતી. તેમણે વધુમાં કહ્યું હતું કે, સ્થળ પરથી ઘીના બે નમૂનાઓ તેમજ બે વેજીટેબલ ફેટ એમ કુલ ચાર નમૂનાઓ લઇ પૃથક્કરણ માટે લેબોરેટરીમાં મોકલી આપ્યા છે જ્યારે બાકીનો આશરે ૧૪૬૨ કિલોગ્રામ જથ્થો જેની અંદાજીત કિંમત રૂ. ૪,૦૫,૮૬૪/-થવા જાય છે તે જથ્થો કાયદા મુજબ જપ્ત કરવામાં આવ્યો છે. આ ખાદ્ય પદાર્થો બિન-આરોગ્યપ્રદ હોઈ તેમનો પૃથ્થકરણ અહેવાલ આવ્યા બાદ કાયદેસરની કોર્ટ કાર્યવાહી કરવામાં આવશે તેમજ આ બાબતમાં આગળની ઝીણવટભરી તપાસ ચાલી રહી છે.)
